Early College Credit Program (ECCP)

The state of Wisconsin’s Early College Credit Program (ECCP) is a state sponsored program which allows students in high school grades to take post secondary courses which opens the door to greater learning opportunities for students wishing to begin college early or students who want to prepare to enter the workforce immediately after high school graduation.  Enrollment and acceptance into this program classifies the student as a part-time college student and comes with additional responsibilities.

Early College Credit Program Stipulations:

  • Dual Credit ratio is: 4 college credits = 1 high school credit.
  • The deadlines for filing the ECCP enrollment forms are no later than February 1 for summer semester, March 1 for the fall semester and October 1 for the spring semester.  If February 1, October 1 or March 1 is a weekend date, completed packets are due the prior Friday.
  • ²ÝÁñÉçÇø ²ÝÁñÉçÇø policy 6450 indicates that students in grades 9-12 may take up to a total of 18 post-secondary credits.  A student may not simultaneously participate in Start College Now courses and courses in institutions of higher education through the Early College Credit Program.
  • If a student receives a failing grade(s) or drops a course for which the school district has made payment, the district will request reimbursement for all costs related to the course(s). Reimbursement will be requested from the student if he/she is an adult or from the student’s parents/guardians, if the student is under 18 years of age.
    • Courses dropped within the college withdrawal period are not charged tuition.
    • Students who fail to provide reimbursement for a dropped or failed course as described above are not eligible for any SCNP or Early College Credit Program course until payment is made.
  • All textbooks provided for the ECCP course must be returned to the high school office within two weeks of completion of the college course.  Parents/students will be billed for the cost of the textbook that is not returned.
  • Course grades earned through the ECCP program will be calculated into the student’s high school GPA and will appear on the student’s high school transcript.
    • Students who fail a ECCP course will receive a failing mark on their college transcript.  Additionally, those who drop after the drop window will receive a withdrawal mark on their college transcript.  These may affect future college acceptance and financial aid.
  • Issues or concerns regarding the ECCP (attendance, transportation, homework, etc.) must be addressed directly with the attending higher education university/college that the student is attending for a possible resolution.
